Forever a True Diamond
Waiting at the Door
I can’t explain so deep inside
The very fabric of my soul
Only a heart that grieves such loss
Can ever truly understand
It’s like you’re waiting at the door
Until a loved one comes back home
You feel a longing in your heart
When they appear the longing stops
But in a loss that never ends
You’re always standing at that door
You feel the longing in the breeze
So incomplete and never filled
I cannot find the words to say
Just what it’s like to want forever
Never seeing them again
Just always waiting at the door
Alison Mary Dunn
Dad
You know how much we loved you
We didn't need to say
We thought of you with fondness
Each and every day
We'll remember all you taught us
It will hurt but won't be sad
You'll send us down the answers
You'll always be our Dad
We'll treasure every memory
With tears we'll speak your name
We'll always love and miss you
In a world that will never be the same.
Poem for Dad
You may have thought we didn't see
Or that we hadn't heard
Life lessons that you taught to us
But we got every word.
Perhaps you thought we missed it all
And that we'd grow apart
But Dad, we picked up everything
It's written in our hearts.
Without you Dad we wouldn't be
The people we are today
You built a strong foundation
That no one can take away.
We've grown up with your values
And we're very glad we did
So here's to you Dear Father
From your forever grateful kids
Lynne, Iain, Diane & Alan.
